Looking to rent a villa with a pool in Southern Corsica for your 2026 holiday? The good news: there is plenty of choice. The less good news: the quality varies enormously. Here is what we have learned in twenty years, to help you choose without unpleasant surprises.

The criteria that actually matter

Renting a villa in Southern Corsica is not like renting a flat in Paris. What makes a stay good is not only the Instagram photograph: it is a set of details most booking sites never show.

The real criteria:

  • Air conditioning — essential from June to September. A villa without it in a Corsican summer is genuinely unpleasant
  • A heated pool — to extend the season (April–May and September–October)
  • Quiet — check the distance to the road and to the neighbours
  • Private parking — parking in Porto-Vecchio in August is a nightmare. A villa with its own parking is a relief
  • Linen included — no trips to the launderette
  • End-of-stay cleaning — avoid villas that expect you to clean everything before you leave
  • A local contact — someone you can call if something goes wrong

“The photograph shows the pool. Reality is also air conditioning that works, a neighbour who is not three metres away, and a number to call if the Wi-Fi fails.”

Where to rent: the areas worth considering

Southern Corsica, c'est vaste. Voici les zones honnêtement analysées :

  • Figari (our area) — Central, 15 minutes from the airport, 20 from Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio, 25 from the famous beaches. The best compromise. The quiet of the maquis, close to everything.
  • Porto-Vecchio town — Lively, with restaurants and nightlife. But noisy in summer, expensive, and far from everything except the town itself.
  • Palombaggia / Santa Giulia — On the beaches. Sublime for the view. But the traffic is dreadful in July and August, coming and going.
  • Bonifacio — Unique charm, but urban. Pools are rare.
  • Sartène and around — Beautiful countryside, but far from the famous beaches (allow 45 minutes to an hour).

Booking direct versus platforms

Here is an honest comparison:

Criterion Booking direct Platform (Airbnb, Booking…)
PrixThe lowest (no fees)15 to 25% more (fees plus commission)
ContactDirect with the ownerThrough the platform, slow replies
FlexibilityNegotiable (length, dates, price)Rigid, fixed rates
TrustYou have to check (Google reviews)Built-in review system
PaymentBank transfer or card, directlySecured through the platform

Our advice: find the villa on a platform, but book direct. Serious owners always have their own website. You will save 15 to 25%, you will have a direct contact, and you will support the local economy rather than an international giant.

The question of budget

For a villa sleeping 6 to 8 with a private pool in Southern Corsica, allow:

  • Low season (April, May, October): €1,500 to €2,500 a week
  • Shoulder season (June, September): €2,500 to €4,000 a week
  • High season (July): €4,000 to €6,000 a week
  • Peak season (August): €5,000 to €8,000 a week

A villa for 4 costs about 30% less. A villa for 10 or more with a heated pool can reach €10,000 a week in August.

Our villa Les Orangers — 10 guests, 4 bedrooms, heated pool.

Traps to avoid

  • The single drone shot — if the owner shows only an aerial view, something is being hidden (close neighbours, a road, bare ground)
  • Vague descriptions — “pool” with no dimensions, “sea view” from one window, “5 minutes from the beach” as the crow flies
  • No recent reviews — check the owner's Google reviews, not just the Airbnb ones (which can be filtered)
  • Unclear terms — deposit, cleaning, tourist tax, linen: everything should be clear and in writing before you pay
  • Payment in full before arrival — that is normal, but make sure there is a proper contract

How we do it at Les Hameaux

At Les Hameaux de Buttaciolo we do things the old way: 7 independent villas, each with its own pool, grounds of around 1,500 m² and air conditioning. Bed and household linen included, a welcome basket of Corsican produce, pool maintenance three times a week and end-of-stay cleaning.

You book directly on locationvilla-portovecchio.fr. Contact us if you need to — you will have us on the phone within five minutes, not through a chatbot.
